چکیده
In this article, we ask how well Australian households are matched to their neighbourhood social environments. We broadly replicate a previous study of matching and what extent live in communities that similar socio-economic status characteristics. Neighbourhood social capital: measurement issues and associations with health outcomes.
We compared ecometric neighbourhood scores of social capital (contextual variation) to mean neighbourhood scores (individual and contextual variation), using several health-related outcomes (i.e. self-rated health, weight status and obesity-related behaviours). Data were analysed from 5,900 participants in the European SPOTLIGHT survey. Factor analysis of the 13-item social capital scale reveal...
متن کاملSocial Cohesion, Social Capital and the Neighbourhood
In current theoretical and policy debates concerning social cohesion, the neighbourhood has re-emerged as an important setting for many of the processes which supposedly shape social identity and life-chances. It is in this context of a renewal of interest in local social relations and particularly the deployment of notions of social capital that this paper offers a critical review of a wide-ra...

متن کاملIs neighbourhood destiny? Exploring the link between neighbourhood mobility and student outcomes
The notion that children from ‘good’ neighbourhoods are destined for success while those from ‘bad’ neighbourhoods are destined for failure has considerable popular appeal. Residential location is strongly linked to school quality, access to educated adults, exposure to violence, etc. There is, however, surprisingly little evidence on the link between the neighbourhood in which a child begins s...
متن کاملGenerating Distance Maps with Neighbourhood Sequences
A sequential algorithm for computing the distance map using distances based on neighbourhood sequences (of any length) in the 2D square grid; and 3D cubic, face-centered cubic, and body-centered cubic grids is presented. Conditions for the algorithm to produce correct results are derived using a path-based approach. Previous sequential algorithms for this task have been based on algorithms that...
